"Toen de Eels kwamen spelen lag er in de studio toevallig nog een kleine tuba (een euphonium heet zo'n ding) dat door een carnavalsorkest vergeten was. Het bleek het lievelingsinstrument van de drummer te zijn die er in dit nummer een sublieme solo op speelt."

When the Eels came to play (music), there was a little tuba laying in the studio ( such a thing is called a euphonium) that was forgotten by a carnivalorchestra. It appeared to be the favourite instrument of the drummer who plays in this song a sublimel solo on it.

Wow! Thanks ... you guy rock!
I took delivery of an Live Studio Session CD today with a ** live ** version of Manchester Girl on it. That was in the liner notes.
Will post on ETD. CD is called "het beste uit DENK AAN HENK de live sessies"

actually the session was a nasty experience for the band, mainly because the host (Henk Westbroek) wasn't interested in them at all! Hence him writing that the drummer played a tuba that was in the studio, while in fact it was just Tommy (bass player) who did the solo on the french horn he used the entire Beautiful Freak tour! The day after this session, the Eels had to play at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium and there E was interviewed for HUMO magazine. In that interview he lashed out against Henk Westbroek because in the show he had said that 'we Dutch people generally like our Eels smoked'. Also, in the radioshow Henk actually said 'this was eels and you've been listening to Manchester City'. He he he... now that you don't read in the liner notes

Eels: The Discography. My website and collection, most of it anyway. Big review is underway as we speak.

'we Dutch people generally like our Eels smoked'. That's so funny. The whole story is funny, but particularly that part.
