The sales were too tempting to not spend my dubloons, so I went today and bought some stuff:
The League of Gentlemen series 3 on DVD Seth Lakeman - Kitty Jay Husker Du - Land Speed Record The Selecter - The Best of... Nick Drake - 5 Leaves Left Good Will Hunting OST Tom Waits - Mule Variations
What did you buy/are you planning to buy?

I'm planning to buy: A couple of West Wing boxsets Norwegian Wood and/or The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, by Haruki Murakami The National - Alligator, which I've been meaning to buy for a while, but haven't gotten round to. I have about £65-£70 worth of Amazon vouchers, I'll see how far it'll get me. I probably won't get anything I plan to.

WEll, I got a total of 16 CDs between my brithday and christmas, so I didn't spend much on music:
tons of clothing Dead Like Me Season 1 Interpol - Turn the Bright Lights On Philip K Dick - Lies, Inc.
I've only spent half of my birthday and xmas money though.
Just for fun, the CDs I got for my birthday and xmas:
R.E.M. Green, Reconstruction of the Fables, and Eponymous (to replace my old broken cassettes) Bangles - A Different Light (also a replacement of a cassette from childhood) The Sundays- Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, and Static and Silence Radiohead - Pablo Honey and Amnesiac, to finish out my collection Interpol - Antics Portishead - Dummy Manic Street Preachers - This Is My Truth Now Tell Me Yours Coldplay - X&Y
Crap. I can't remember the other 4.

I'm glad people took my advice about "Mule Variations". It's definitely one of my favorite albums of all time.
I didn't get money for Christmas, just jelly beans. Which is more precious than money. But I did make a lot from seasonal work for the postal service, and a sizeable refund from university financial aid.
I'm using my surplus of money, plus the $400 I got from selling my hundreds of used CDs, to consolidate my CD collection into the most phenomenal group of records ever. The goal is to one day be the father with the most rockingest music taste ever, hence having children with the most rockingest music taste ever. And what better thing can a father do? Of course, I need children first...
Anyway, I'm primed to legally purchase, not just illegally download:
Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" Love "Forever Changes" Lou Reed "Transformer" Queen "A Night At The Opera" Van Morrison "Astral Weeks" John Lennon "Imagine" Pink Floyd "The Dark Side Of The Moon"
And so on. Any suggestions as to what should be included in my collection of rock essentials? Give me a good reason, and voila, it shall be mine. But no Rolling Stones, Beatles or Bob Dylan. I have those! =D

Very good choices Schlomo, Especially the last four. Might I suggest Neil Young's "Harvest"? It's a historical rock staple. Has "Needle and the Damage Done", "Alabama". Well, I could name them all but I won't. Also, Tom Waits has been the background music in my life for so long I nearly forgot about him until you mentioned Mule Variations. It is a great one and it's gotten more than a couple listens from me since you mentioned it. And I bought ER season 1 and a big fat book with my Barnes & Noble gift certificate My problem with albums these days is that all my music is on my computer so I rarely listen to a whole album all the way through. I just have a bunch of playlists...

I'm happy with the Manic's album though. I like it. Although I do want more of their stuff, particularly The Holy Bible which everyone says is terrific.

I'm not a big fan of garlic crushers. To me they make the garlic have a bitter taste, so I tend to just mince by hand. Also, I don't like to wash them, with all the garlic caught in the little holes. But I do like knives - man, I wish I could afford enough meat to justify a cleaver. With a cleaver, my kitchen would be complete.

I went to a nice record store nearby and couldn't resist buying newly remastered versions of:
Love "Forever Changes" Zombies "Odessey & Oracle" (Best album of the '60s, I stake my reputation on it!) Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" Bob Dylan "Blonde On Blonde" Lou Reed "Transformer" Who "My Generation"
And Ryan Adams's THIRD 2005 album "29".
The best part? I got them all new for $19. I took in a few old CDs and got store credit, and the girl behind the counter gave me a discount card 'cause my selections "rocked so hard." Cool!
Saving $78 on a $97 purchase? Priceless. =D

With the exception of a couple of tracks, the US mix is a vast improvement on the original, in my opinion.

I'm so upset because the version of Antics I got was just the CD, but the day after Christmas I found one that has a bonus disc with new songs and videos- FOR THE SAME PRICE dammit. Also, I don't like to wash them, with all the garlic caught in the little holes. I hate that too. I just buy jars of preminced garlic in some sort of garlic juice. Although I really hate garlic, but my boyfriend is oddly addicted to it. and I figured out the missing albums. I can't believe I forgot them. Graham Coxon - the Sky is Too High Muse - Origin of Symmetry and another REM.

I absolutely love Interpol and no matter if I already have that album, I want the most complete version! I already have all the singles... any songs doubling? I always feel ripped as a music fan when this happeens. They should release the special 2-disc editions FIRST for the fans who always but their cd's. Not after all the fans have already bought the album and are now forced to buy it again! I really have no problem with 10th anniversary editions and such, but with relatively new albums it really annoys me!

Fine one more post, but only because I hate to not answer a question: Special Edition AnticsIt has one "new song" and four remixes done by the band members, plus 3 music videos.

I bought a ticket for a Posies gig. And for another band I am too ashamed to admit. And I wanted to buy a ticket for a David Gilmour concert. But all 3 shows are sold out! And the amount of money they're asking on ebay is insane! First time he comes here since 1994 and everything's sold out . . .
