Blazing Saddles is on tonight, which obviously shouldn't be something to complain about, but it won't finish till 1am, and i really really should try to be in bed pre-midnight if i'm going to stand any chance of making it to lectures tomorrow. Anyone want to take bets on what I end up doing?

the volunteers that spent hours trying to save the whale in the thames were given £300 of parking tickets. there were notes in the windows saying who they were, and that they would arrange payment. they weren blocking anything, just at meters, but were there longer than they expected.

personally im a believer in evolution. it just makes logical sense to me. but how are they supposed to teach intelligent design? its going in to religion and religous views should never be forced on people, especially on young children. i dont believe theres any evidence either, other than the complexity of life. so all they are fighting for is for the teacher to say at the end to say "evolution might not be true tho. a greater being may have designed everything"

It's more of the traditionalist thinking which makes this country so great, and by great I obviously mean a chav-infested rudderless ship about to sail off the edge of the world, which doubtlessly some of our inhabitants think exists.

I'm not too bothered about what people want to believe, but what I think is preposterous is that people want creationism or intelligent design to be taught in Science lessons . Fine, teach it, but it's not science, teach it in religious education. Also, I'm pleasantly surprised that only 13% of people had no opinion whatsoever. Things aren't all that bad. don't mix up religion with science... evolution is a fact god is a philosophy Evoloution is only a theory, not a fact. Sorry to be pedantic, but my feathers are ruffled now. I'll have a cup of tea, that'll sort me out.

I'll have a cup of tea, that'll sort me out. I was going to give that exact remark, but I didn't as I would have felt the need to follow it up with further expanasions on my opinion, and i'm too tired for that. Complaint: My uni cut my internet off yesterday for downloading the west wing, this is quite unfair if you ask me. And they can see what we download it seems

there are a million proves for evolution a proven theory, therefore a fact. sorry to say this, but in my opinion: denying evolution = stupid

supporting evidence, yes, there's plenty. Of course, that's more than enough to cinvince people, it's convinced me, but it's not 100% proof. there's always the possibility, however slight, that it's wrong. That's the problem with science. In order to prove something completly, we have to step back and view it from the 3rd person - something we, living within the world we're trying to describe, can't do. (gah, I think I'm going to need another cup of tea )

yeah blablabla, in that point of view you can't prove anything. I know that. Even in math you can't prove anything "really", cause you always start a theory with axioms. And observation isn't real proof either, cause those are just some signals coming from our imperfect sense organs to our imperfect brain. I'm still sure the world is round though.
Science is ALL theory, and nonsense according to some people, but still they all use the applications of it. Einstein's relativity is a theory too, and not even a perfect or finished one, but without it we wouldn't be able to use GPS !
Genetic manipulation works, right? So DNA exists? Chimpansee genes are 96% identical to human beings. One prove of the different stages animals went to can be found in fosils and the depth where they can be found.
If you say in a philosophical way "nothing is really a fact", then ok, you're right. But if there is anything we can call "facts", then evolution is certainly one of them!

I'm stuck at the office . . . It's 10.14 p.m. local time and I am waiting for a translator to send in his translations because the agency we work for needs the texts by tomorrow morning. I could work while I wait. But I can't be bothered. So I'm bored. And I want to go home. And I want a cup of hot chocolate. But really, all I want is to download the last Lost episode! Grrrr. I wanna go home!

Fine, teach it, but it's not science, teach it in religious education. Darn tootin'. I really don't understand where the idea that you should mix these two comes in. Didn't Brahman supposedly masturbate the universe into creation? And yet that never cropped in any of my Physics lessons. Evolution is a scientific theory, Design (actually, let's skip the 'intelligent' part of that phrase) is a religious theory, and should stay in its own part of the curriculum.

yeah blablabla, in that point of view you can't prove anything. I know that... Heh, see where this has gone? Once again, sorry for being pedantic, and I know what you mean, but i think that's where God can still eek out an existence, in that: 'nothing can ever be proved entirely', and the creationists will keep bringing that up, because they can be 'sure' [/my soapbox for the night]

Yes, but consider the very nature of time. The present itself is an infinitetessimal moment, in itself unmeasurable. Therfore, by definition, all proof can only exist in our memories, therefore we have absolutely no basis to think anything is real. Thinking like that, everything is a matter of faith, and so the Creationists have no superior claim on that argument. [/bollocks]

Hehe, touché the closer you look the worse it gets. But none of you exist anyway, you're all in my head. (if of course that exists.)
